On December 3, the Dot Foods Tennessee gave Customer Delivery Specialist (CDS) Brian Murphy, and the 168th Military Police Battalion, a special send-off.
The 168th is in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to support police and security operations. They completed two weeks of training at Fort Bliss, Texas, before deploying.
Brian has served in the military for 24 years, and he has worked at Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI) for approximately two years.
Tennessee Director of Transportation Andrew Sentell said as a part of Dot Foods’ military program, Murphy is still considered to be employed by DTI, and his driving position will be waiting for him in Tennessee when he completes his military service. He will also receive a stipend to cover the difference between his military paycheck and what he receives when driving for Dot.
“Brian is a very good employee,” Tennessee Director of Transportation Andrew Sentell said. “He’s a standup guy, and we’re very appreciative of his service.”
Members from the Dyersburg distribution center (DC) and Brian’s family participated in the send-off event. Even the Dot veteran-themed military trailer made an appearance.
Dot provided breakfast from Chick-fil-A for approximately 70 troops that day.
The convoy was led by local law enforcement and a local biker group to the county line.
The 168th is expected to return in December 2020, but Brian will make a special trip home in May for his son’s graduation.
From all of us at Dot: Thank you, Brian Murphy, for your service.
