Student drivers earn their CDL-A for free and get a guaranteed driving job after only 12 weeks.

Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI) is excited to announce that we launched our first ever in-house driving school pilot program out of our Dot Foods Maryland location!

“This is an idea we’ve been considering for the past couple years,” said Maryland Director of Transportation David Hess. “Many of the drivers we’re hiring are new to the industry, right out of school, and we started trying to figure out how we could make the training process more efficient. By setting up our own, in-house training school, we can get drivers road-ready in 12 weeks versus the 16 to 18 weeks you’re looking at if you enroll in an external training school.”

So, what can you expect from DTI’s driving school and training program? We break it all down for you right here:

Free Tuition + Weekly Take-Home Pay

DTI’s in-house program makes it easy for student drivers to get their Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL), and Haz-Mat and tanker endorsements at no cost, while simultaneously earning a paycheck. DTI pays their enrolled students $750 per week during the 12-week program while they are attending school for free.

Hess describes the program tuition as a prorated $1,500 loan from Dot Transportation that you never have to pay back, as long as you drive for DTI for at least two years after completing the program.

We Hire You, We Train You

If you get accepted into DTI’s in-house driving program, you will be guaranteed a full-time driving job after you’ve graduated. This means you’ll be able to take advantage of DTI’s great schedule options and job type variety, as well as an average first-year pay of $65K-$75K and best-in-class benefits

Four Weeks in the Classroom

One of the best parts about the DTI driving school program is that your CDL schooling and your DTI training and orientation are packaged together into one program. That is what helps cut down your school-to-road time from 16 weeks to 12 weeks!

During this period of time, you’ll spend time in the classroom—but you’ll also be in Dot’s truck yards getting to know Dot’s trucks, equipment, and in-house support teams.

Eight Weeks of Behind-the-Wheel Training

At DTI, we believe that hands-on learning is the best way to gain knowledge and expand your expertise. Each student spends eight weeks accompanied by an experienced driver trainer. This means that YOU will be doing the driving while your trainer is in the passenger seat. Our approach differs from other training programs, but we know that putting you behind the wheel with your trainer as a guide is the best way to set you up for success.

Hit the Road Full-Time After Only 12 Weeks

Once you’ve reached the end of 12 weeks, congratulations! You’re officially a Class A CDL holder who is on track to kickstart their professional driving career!
