What to Expect
This page is 100% for you. We give you a transparent run-down of what it will be like for your family if your driver drives for DTI. How much they’ll get paid, what their first few months will look like, how often we’ll get them home, benefits for your family, and more. We break it all down right here.
Paid Training
Your driver will have to go through training with Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI) before they can hit the road solo. During this time, they will be making $800 / week if they have fewer than 200K miles of experience and $1,300 / week if they have more than 200K.
Length of Training
DTI training includes two weeks of classroom orientation and then multiple weeks of hands-on, over-the-road training with a DTI driver trainer in the cab. Training will take three to 10 weeks depending on the driver’s level of experience and how quickly they learn company guidelines. Our goal is to get your driver on the road as soon as they can safely be on their own.
Activity-Based Pay
Last year, the fleet-wide driver salary average was $101,000! Once training is complete, your driver will be able to hit the road. There, they’ll get paid for every part of their job—not just their mileage. For each activity your driver completes on the road, they earn some sort of compensation. This pay structure sets us apart from other transportation companies. We respect the hard work our drivers do and want to pay our drivers for every part of the driving job.
Predictable Home Time
We get all of our drivers home weekly so they can be with their families and friends. But we also offer a variety of schedule options that can get your driver home more often if that is what is best for your family. Some of the options we offer include:
- Four days on, four days off
- Six days on, three days off
- “Traditional” schedule
Your Support Means Everything
While your driver is on the road, there will be the stress of learning a new job. Here are some things you can do to help your driver as they acclimate to their new position:
Handle small tasks at home they normally have done, such as mowing the lawn or taking out the trash, while they adjust to their new role.
When your driver is home, ensure they have time to relax, spend time with your family and friends, and prepare for the next span of days they’ll be gone for work.
Help your driver meal prep before they hit the road for their next work cycle so they can worry less about food and also save money.
Help your driver keep distractions while working to a minimum. Plan family call times in advance around their 10-hour break. Avoid calling them during their driving time to help them stay focused on the road.
